A MAJOR update to MELD!


Good day! Very pleased to announce a MAJOR update to the MELD RPG playest files!

Almost every system has seen some changes, but in particular:

  • The underlying engine is now called DASH WARP SAVANTS, an acronym for the Attributes and Primary Resources. Acronyms are cool!
  • The Special Abilities system has been completely rewritten. The new system is a bit lengthier in terms of page count, but it's far simpler in use.
  • The Special Abilities system now includes a complete, freeform magic system, with discrete magical 'Doctrines' which tie into the San Sincero modern world action/occult setting.
  • A few Resources have been renamed (Concentration is now Nerve, Sequence is now Alacrity, Mystical Background is now Attunement, etc.). 
    • Yes, a few of these changes are just to facilitate the SUPER COOL acronym. But most of them are honestly clearer and make more sense for what I wanted.
  • Complete revamp to how Durability, Protection, and Hardness are figured for inanimate objects.
  • Several new optional rules for extra combat grit: Unusual Sword Maneuvers and Firearm Recoil.
  • Guidance on running Investigation-based adventures.
  • The default "meta-setting" ("The Pentecosm") has been replaced with a new one, which has many more possibilities and more potential ("The Fortress Apokryphon"). 
    • Note that the settings inside the meta-setting, such as San Sincero (modern action/urban fantasy), the Emerald Voidstation (space opera), New Veskadia (fantasy), and Sand Sin Sorrow (post-apocalypse), remain, so existing characters are still valid.
  • New Campaign Design Worksheet, with all optional rules listed.
